I embark on this journey to paint a watercolour a day for every day of 2012, starting January 1st, 2012. June 1st, 2012. (It is the first day of the month again! Hooray!) Last night was another Drink n’ Draw and I painted this raccoon. Since it has been so warm in Toronto (with the exception of today’s rainy day of gloom), the raccoons are out and scavenging the garbage bins in full force. I have had a few recent encounters with this one raccoon that lives under the deck of my friend Mel’s house. It comes out from under the deck, turns to look directly at us, then continues on its way to the garbage bin.

May 31st, 2012. Today it is sweater weather here in Toronto. It is my favourite kind of weather, the kind where you need a sweater but can still go sockless! This is my favourite cardigan: too big, too comfy and too leopard-printy!
(Today marks 5 whole months of watercolours, woohoo!)

May 30th, 2012. I JUST LOVE GOING TO THE DENTIST! <— definite lie, do you think anyone in the history of the world has ever said that? I doubt it. Yes, it is the absolute worst, in fact, I doubt there is anything more unpleasant BUT now my teeth feel all shiny and wonderful and all I can do is smile about it! Take a look at those pearly whites!

May 29th, 2012. Today I watched my dog, Toby, carefully and slowly crack open a peanut and eat only the prize inside, tossing aside the shell (this dog is pretty much a human being, unreal). I too partook in this delicious and rewarding snack, one that I associate with the zoo! Why? Well, in South Africa, peanuts-in-the-shell are called “Monkey Nuts”, and every time I went to the zoo, they were my best thing ever, I was more excited for my bag of peanuts than I was to see the animals. Johannesburgers: do they still sell them at the zoo? Say YES!

May 28th, 2012. My goodness, it is HOT today in Toronto (31 C), why May? Why are you so hot right now? I guess the one nice thing about this heat is that us ladies get to wear pretty summer dresses because it is too hot to wear anything else… Although, it was even too hot today for my breeziest, bluest, summer dress so what gives, May?

May 26th, 2012. One of my favourite parts about going to Toronto Island is the ferry ride there and back. On the way there, it is 10 minutes of anticipating with excitement, the awesome day to come! (With the wind blowing in your hair) On the way back, the sun is usually setting and it is 10 minutes of reflecting with contentment on what a beautiful day you just had (with the wind blowing in your hair), *sigh*.

May 25th, 2012. Last night I went to my friend Adam’s 30th birthday party and it was complete with party hats, cake and balloons! Someone even made a balloon animal (see above)! (Great party, bru!) I’m pretty sure that these things will always have novelty in our lives. We all got really happy when the balloon animal appeared which goes to show, we all share the same sense of nostalgia and some things will always make us happy (or sad, but let’s stick to happy!).

May 24th, 2012. I bought this beeeaauutiful hammer for my mom for Mother’s day a few years ago, then I stole it, then I gave it back (damn). I hung every piece of art in my apartment with this little, dainty lady (I named her Flora). Today, my mom helped me install a painting for a client and I was so happy to be reunited with Flora, she obviously saved the day! (I kind of want to steal her back mom, watch her closely, and for the record I warned you)
