September 25th, 2012. I am not a big make-up person but I do love mascara. I have tried countless brands/shapes/size etc but I always come back to the pink and green, Great Lash mascara by Maybelline. Why is mascara called mascara? Well folks, the etymology is unclear, but there is talk that it comes from the Spanish word for “mask” or “stain” and/or the Italian word maschera also meaning ‘mask’ (thanks wikipedia!)
